Heat Transfer Correlations for Star-Shaped Fins

Star-shaped fins are a newer type of fin for which correlations heat transfer and pressure drop do not yet exist in the literature. Therefore, correlation equations air-side finned exchanger with star-shaped stainless-steel staggered arrangement were developed this work. To obtain these correlations, numerical analysis basic geometry another 21 variants was performed using computational fluid dynamics, then results laboratory tests model exchangers used. In analysis, pitch, thickness, air velocity at inlet to varied. The Nusselt (Nu) Euler (Eu) numbers determined each variation analyzed. Initial Nu Eu derived least-squares deviation method. coefficients thus obtained adjusted agree tests. final from experimental test up 10% range Re < 3500, whereas higher values Re, less than 2%. deviated 19% 4000, > 5600, 1%. valid 2000 16,000.
